Nobody expects a baby to keep
to the schedule.
A session with a baby runs at the baby’s pace. There will be feeds, changes, a settle and probably a wardrobe incident. That is planned for rather than worked around, which is why these sessions feel calmer than parents expect.
If there is an older sibling, their photographs are taken early while they are still interested — then they can be as involved or as uninvolved as they choose.
Timing & practicalities
Making the session easy on everyone.
- Book a time of day when your baby is usually settled, not necessarily the earliest slot.
- Feed just before or at the start of the session.
- Bring a spare outfit for the baby and something plain for the change after.
- Keep styling simple — soft, neutral colours photograph best next to skin.
- Tell AOU Studio your baby’s age when booking so the right session length is chosen.
- If an older sibling is involved, bring one favourite toy rather than a bagful.
